Why is the movie called as ' SMOKEOUT '?
It is because
It is a metaphor.

What kind of the story is it?
Let's start with the Origin
The bee farmer smokes out the bee from the beehive by using the smoke.
Then, the honey can be taken out without difficulty.
When the western people say【SMOKE OUT】
It means to find the true story in every effort.
That is how it comes from.
Let's have a joke first.
Once upon a time, there was a countryman named Fu-di Hsu.
He was a orchard man.
He had a land which right was put under the name of the Hsu's shrine.
The land also grew rice and fruits in his father's generation.
Both Fu-di Hsu and his father believed
That as long as the family properties were re-allocated by the Hsu's shrine
The land would belong to them sooner or later.
However, Fu-di Hsu did not inherit the land after all.
The reason for Fu-di Hsu to lose the land was caused by a unbelievable encounter.
Fu-di Hsu was used to be named as Fu-min Hsu.
When Fu-min Hsu was called for his compulsory military service.
He was sent to an odd troop in the very front line.
Since the soldier had to confront the war at all times, this unit had some special rules.
For example, the name of the troop leader was absolute confidential.
For the sake of confidentiality, the soldier was asked to change his name if his name was same as the leaders.
Unfortunately, the leader of the troop was also named as Fu-min Hsu.
So, the orchard man Fu-min Hsu lost his name.
The orchard and Fu-min Hsu was forced to change the name as Fu-di Hsu instead of Fu-min Hsu.
The orchard man Fu-min Hsu did not lose his life in his military service but lost his name.
And, it was the beginning of his unfortunate life.
After Fu-min Hsu was discharged from military service,
Many things no longer belonged to him due to his change of the name.
The Hsu's was a big family.
The head of the family had just died.
When the family properties were reallocated, the new name of Fu-di Hsu was not listed in the family name book.
Therefore, the land that was supposed to be owned to Fu-min Hsu could not be allocated to him.
The orchard on which had been grown fruits by Fu-min Hsu therefore was given to other person.
Fu-min Hsu's wife, a countrywoman, was so mad and drowned herself into the river.
Fu-min Hsu also wanted to drown himself because of this.
Everybody watched out for him.
He found no chance to do so.
Now there were only a few boxes of bees left for Fu-min Hsu.
Those bees were kept to convey the pollen in the beginning.
The plant needed the bee to bring back the pollen and then grew the fruit so sweet.
Fu-min Hsu who lost the orchard
Could do nothing but to leave his hometown along with those boxes of bees by driving his van.
He was so sad.
He drove up to the mountain and planned to find a mountain groove to drive down into it.
He wanted to die.
But, he was lost in the mountain.
By accident, he found so many flowers blooming in the woods of the mountain.
It happened to be a good place for bees to gather the honey.
He did no longer want to die because of his finding of the place.
He believed that he found his fortune.
At that time, 5 dollars for 1 Chinese pound of honey and 5 cents for 1 Chinese pound of white rice.
He also believed that his daughter would live a bountiful life.
Since then, Fu-di Hsu became a nomadic beekeeper.
He drove alone, in the vane, with boxes and boxes of bees.
He went for the flower season in everywhere.
He normalized and gathered honey.
He searched woods and plants among mountains and set out the bee for honey.
He waited for the bee to come back with enough honey.
He made the bee out of the beehive by using a hand centrifuge.
The bee was bottled and carried to the front gate of the temple or to the market for sale.
He was a nomadic beekeeper.
He lived happily everyday and almost forgot the unfortunate things ever happened to him.
However, happiness is followed by sorrow when it reaches an extreme, as the saying goes.
Again, another unfortunate thing happened to him.
He domiciled to every place.
Once in a while, when he had a bad mood he would curse the government.
One day, he came out a joke.
He said, he had 4 brothers.
Father named each of them as Fu-chung, Fu-hua , Fu-min , and Fu-Kuo respectively.
So, it read as 'Chung Hua Min Kuo.' (i.e. 'The Republic of China' read in Chinese)
Later, he was forced to have his name changed.
Therefore, it was no longer the 'Chung-Hua-Min-Kuo' when names of 4 brothers were put together.
It became as 'Chung-Hua -"Di"- Kuo'. (i.e.'The "Empire" of China' read in Chinese)
He was so proud of the joke he made.
He said the joke to everybody on his nomadic journey.
Perhaps it was because the joke itself was to sensitive.
Or, perhaps it was because too many people were arrested at that time.
One day, he the poor beekeeper was also arrested.
He was charged with spreading the rumor.
It was because he said 'The Republic of China' was 'The "Empire" of China.'
He was convicted of spy.
It was because he always drove among the mountains and come between those critical military constructions
Therefore, he must assist the Communist to collect military information.
After given a military trial, "Fu-di Hsu" was sent away.
He never came back ever since.
Is this a joke?
Let's go for the second story.
The second story happens today.
It is a story for searching tomorrow which we do not know where to find.
The leading role of this story is named Chun-sheng Liu.
Chun-sheng Liu was a successful white collar.
But, he found himself to get an incurable disease in the prime of his business
The doctor told him that he probably would not live for more than 2 months.
He was so upset and ready to make an end of himself.
However, he recalled that he still has an "unsolved mystery" to solve.
Therefore, he alone came to a secluded small town
He purposed to find his enemy named as Fu-kuo Miao.
Chun-sheng Liu was so active in his college life.
He joined in the "student activity" and "formed the party."
He also nearly could not graduate from the university due to the "Activity of Defense for Fish Platform."
At then, his bad record was reported by his teacher of Military Education, Fu-kuo Miao.
In his senior year, Chun-shen Liu was asked to go for the inquiry by the investigation unit.
After 2 weeks, he was extremely tortured and also needed to go home for his parents' funeral.
When his only son was caught for inquiry, how much could those two old men stand?
He became into the orphan and did not forget his revenge.
Not until these years, his finding came to a conclusion.
Miao hid himself in a secluded small town as an errand man for an elementary school.
Since he was about to die, he secretly found himself a gun.
Before he died, he needed to find out Miao and kill him.
From those two stories,
The movie begins to tell the story.
Chun-sheng Liu just arrived at this small town in the country and immediately ran into a stupid car accident.
A truck ran into the passenger waiting spot due to the malfunction of brake.
As a result, the scene was a total disaster.
In the mess, Chun-sheng Liu ran into the accidence and risked his life to rescue a girl Whom was almost hidden by the truck.
The girl was named as Hsiao-fen Hsu, a teacher in the junior high school.
She had such a unique disposition and a moving sad looks.
She was a volunteer for a Buddhist group.
She returned to the small town to do some charity works in every summer.
Chun-sheng Liu was fascinated by her facial expression.
At the same place, Chun-sheng Liu also found a gray hair old man wounded.
Chun-sheng Liu immediately recognized the old man was his long-searching enemy Fu-kuo Miao.
At this moment, his enemy was looked so old and seriously hurt.
He was not only unconscious but also could not speak.
Chun-sheng Liu desired to kill him.
But, he held back his desire.
Because his mind, at this moment, was filled with a girl who made his heart beat so fast.
Although the doctor had confirmed that he had uncertain time to live,
he had just met a girl who was so adorable and resistible.
How could he do with such "End of Love"?
The time and background of those 2 stories above were totally different.
But, they just like a swarm of wild bees that relate to each other inseparably.
Those bees were abandoned in the mountain at the time that Fu-min Hsu was arrested.
They were still finding their way home after 1 and 2 decades.
Those bees witnessed a truth story that was almost faded away
The bee is a kind of mysterious insect.
They are the only insects which can gather honey.
Those secrets and myths about they
Have not yet been understood completely by us up to now.
Moreover, the bee is a metaphor.
It means to seal securely.
To seal securely by using the beeswax.
It makes the truth never be seen by you.
From then to present,
Those bees have been waiting for their master to take them home.
The way of home has been silent for decades.
At last, the history has found its access.
The bee no longer needs to wonder in the deserted valley.
Probably because of a certain reason, the history has to be filled with blank.
Probably because of the mistake of the history, the truth has to be covered.
However, the truth of the history is unlike the woman.
The more a woman covers, the sexier she appears.
Only the completely revealed truth can verify the history.
The mysterious veil of the history is gently uncovered.
Under the twisted and transformed truth of the history,
The bee once was lost
but now find the way home at last.

Because of primary and secondary causes, we were predestined to bear endless ill fortune and could not free ourselves from it.
This is a story about the great mercy of the people.
We often say that 'the great mercy' means to learn how to let go of the hatred in one's mind.
It is easy to say so but hard to do it.
When a person's life is closing to the end,
He especially needs to put down his lifetime obligation.
Then, he will be able to accept the fact that he has to let go of his most loved.
No obstruction is the wisdom of the most.
To get rid of hatred is the spirit of the most.
Fu-kuo Miao injured seriously and died at last.
But, he always wished to help those kids in the afflicted area to get back to school.
His wish came true at last.
Hsiao-fen Hsu accompanied Chun-sheng Liu to the mountain.
Unexpectedly, she came to the place where her father had been arrested and missing.
Here she found the bee box that had been abandoned by her father.
So, she carried those bees with her for home.
Chun-sheng Liu left the small town with his precious understanding.
The great mercy is to learn to let go of the hatred in one's mind.
His life is coming to the end.
But the door of eternity is opened right before his eyes.
This is a story in which contains 2 comparisons.
It gives the explanation to people's unspeakable profound thinking.
It also let the Buddhist mercy filled unknowingly through the whole story.
